Peyton Dolejs did the opposing team no favors on Saturday, picking up four hits over four at bats and leading Mentor to a 17-2 win over Grand Valley High School. Dolejs singled in the first, tripled in the second, singled in the third, and singled in the fourth.

Mentor got things moving in the first inning.

Grand Valley High School knotted the game up at one in the bottom of the first inning, when an error scored one run for Grand Valley High School.

Mentor pulled away for good with six runs in the second inning. In the second Adrianna Sluga doubled on a 2-1 count, scoring two runs, Avalon Gollin singled on a 2-0 count, scoring one run, Dolejs tripled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run, Casey McHugh’s sac fly scored one run for Mentor, and Kiley Markowski singled on a 0-2 count, scoring one run.

Mentor tallied eight runs in the fourth inning. Mentor big bats in the inning were led by a walk by Allie Loparo, a single by Dolejs, a sacrifice fly by Mikayla Luptak, a home run by Raegan Thompson, an error on a ball put in play by Loparo, and a double by McHugh.

Caitlin Dems got the win for Mentor. She allowed three hits and one run over two innings, striking out two and walking one. Dolejs and Leah Temple entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.

Mentor tallied one home run on the day. Thompson had a long ball in the fourth inning.

Mentor Cardinals Varsity collected 11 hits on the day. Dolejs and McHugh each had multiple hits for Mentor Cardinals Varsity. Dolejs went 4-for-4 at the plate to lead Mentor Cardinals Varsity in hits. Sammy Bancroft led Mentor with two stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with eight stolen bases.
