The 2020-2021 season has caused the Mentor Boys Basketball team to face some scheduling adversity due to the ongoing global pandemic, Friday night allowed the team to take on a different form of adversity, a late start. Due to referee issues the game against against Lake County foe Willoughby South started about 40 minutes late. The late start didn’t slow the Cardinals down as they raced out to a 27-14 first quarter lead and never looked back in a 99-62 victory. Mentor was led by Luke Chicone’s 30 points, backcourt mates Jonah Waag, Steven Key and Cael Gray added 22, 16 and 7 respectively. 12 total players saw action for the Cardinals with Antonio DiFranco adding 9 points off the bench. The busy weekend continues for Cardinals as they travel to Lakewood to take on Rangers at 7:15 on Saturday.
