The Mentor Boys basketball team defeated longtime GCC rival Euclid 71-59 to push their record to 11-5 and 8-2 in the GCC. In a game that was originally supposed to be played in the first week in December, but was moved due to Cardinals state semifinal run in football, Mentor scored 30 points in the fourth quarter to put away the Panthers. Junior Luke Chicone led Mentor in scoring with 21 points, while backcourt mate Luke Floriea had 18 points. Senior Chad Rogers added 17 points and the Cardinals got key contributions from Kyle Culler, Cael Gray, Andrew Witte, Andrew Smith and Cam Miller. The team returns to action when they travel to Elyria on Friday night for another key GCC matchup.
