Cardinals News · Mentor defeats Dobyns-Bennett 57-36 in Arby’s quarterfinals

The Mentor Boys Basketball team overcame a slow start to defeat the Dobyns-Bennett Indians 57-36 in the quarterfinals of the 37th Arby’s Classic.  Dobyns-Bennett, from Kingsport, Tennessee, claims to have the most  high school basketball wins in America with over 2270 victories since their program started in 1918.  The Cardinals used a 15-0 run in the second quarter to open a 30-16 halftime lead.  A balanced scoring attack led by Luke Floriea’s 14 points and 7 assists paced the Cardinals.  Also scoring in double figures for Mentor was Luke Chicone (13 points and 4 assists), Kyle Culler (12 points on 4 three point field goals), and Chad Rogers (11 points).  With the win the Cardinals advance to the semifinals were they meet North Mecklenburg (NC) on Monday night at 7 pm.  North Mecklenburg is a Top 40 nationally ranked program.
