The girls track team are Division 1 State Runner Up. Led by Head Coach Bob Berwald and assistants Jen Butterfield, Alex Ardo, Taylor Ballard, and Jordan Wilcox the Cardinals had a great Saturday at the OHSAA State Track and Field Meet at Jesse Owens Stadium at Ohio State University.
The Cardinals scored 41 points to edge 3rd place Gahanna Lincoln by 1 point. Lakota East High School won the state title with 65 points. The highlight of the day was an individual state title in Long Jump by Paige Floriea. Paige set a stadium record with a jump of 19’9.75″ Also scoring points for the Cardinals were:
High Jump – Victoria Lanese 3rd place jumping 5’7″
100m dash – Paige Floria 3rd place time of 12.13
400m dash – Emma Potter 6th place time of 56.91
200m dash – Paige Floriea 2nd place time of 24.29
4×400 m relay team of Sarah Lane, Emma Potter, Paige Floriea, and Rylee Yocum 2nd place time of 3.49.48 which is also a school record!
Great day by the entire track program that was there to support the Cards!!
