Boys Varsity Bowling · Mentor Bowlers finish 3rd in the state


The Mentor boys bowling team competed in the OHSAA state bowling championships on Saturday March 9 at Wayne Webb Columbus Bowling Palace.  The team finished 4th in the opening round of 3 individual games and 3 baker games.  Because of their 4th place finish the Cards advanced to the final bracket tournament.  In the quarterfinal round the Cards defeated Olmsted Falls 3-0 in a best of 5 baker game series to advance to the state semifinals.  In the semifinal round the Cards faced eventual state champion Vandalia Butler and lost 3-1.  By the ranking of their finish in the opening round the Cards were awarded 3rd place in the tournament.

During the opening round individual bowlers competed for All Ohio honors and 2 of the Cardinals received this award.  Senior Charlie Ball finished 13th overall to earn him All Ohio Honorable mention honors and Sophomore Evan Lewis finished 3rd overall awarding him 1st team All Ohio honors.
